Music has always been in Carl’s family, his first musical experience being learning to play the piano - following in his parents footsteps (and fingers) - and achieved Grade 3 with distinction. Becoming bored with the ivories as a youngster he gave it up and started playing guitar at the age of 14. He took to it very quickly, driving his parents mad with constant Status Quo riffs. His first experience of playing music with other musicians was when he started jamming in the evenings with a work colleague who also played guitar .
 
Carl joined his first band “Riff Raff” in 1989, playing covers of classic rock songs. "Riff Raff" disbanded in 1993 and after a musicless spell was reincarnated as "Black and Blue" in 1995 playing modern rock and pop covers. "Black and Blue" continued in various guises until 2001 before Carl moved on to Elements and another unfolding musical chapter....... 

Carl is an exceptional guitarist, providing Elements sound with more sparkle than his metallic gold Volvo……
